The architecture and interior design industry has been the target of a cyber attack and ransomware threat in recent months.
This time around, however, the attack on the industry is less serious.
According to a new report from cyber security firm Trend Micro, a number of firms are in advanced stages of recovering and restoring data from their systems after being hit by a ransomware attack.
Trend Micro’s research found that the attacks on the architecture and design industry have increased significantly since the beginning of 2018.
That’s partly because there have been more ransomware attacks in 2018 compared to previous years, and more than half of the affected firms reported recovering some data.
However, this is not to say that the industry hasn’t been affected by ransomware attacks, or that ransomware has not affected other industries.
While many of the attacks are focused on large businesses, the trend of more ransomware incidents in the architecture industry has also been noticed by other firms and institutions.
For example, the cybersecurity firm ThreatConnect found that about 3 percent of all the ransomware infections in its dataset were focused on larger organizations.
While the overall rate of ransomware attacks hasn’t changed, the threat posed by ransomware has.
According the ThreatConnect researchers, ransomware attacks have increased in recent years, in part because there are more ransomware variants and because there is more awareness of the issue among businesses.
TrendMicro’s researchers said that they are working to determine what the ransomware threat is really focused on.
If there are some common patterns, it’s likely that ransomware is targeting business data, especially large organizations.
