Interior architecture jobs are going to die in Canada because of the growing popularity of the church as a work space, says RTE host and architecture professor Paul Kennedy.
“It’s becoming so important to the city that you want to create a place where people feel safe and comfortable,” he said.
But Kennedy says that if the city is to survive, it will have to start making its own interior architecture.
“I think if you look at the history of architecture, we have not had a strong emphasis on the interior space, which is a real shame,” he told the program.
“We need to start to build those spaces that are really about the people, and that are about the community, and to be inclusive.”
In his opinion, a new style of interior architecture would work better than the current style of churches.
“There is no point in building a church if it’s just an empty place,” Kennedy said.
We need a new approach to the interior of a building,” he added. “
If we can create a church where people really feel safe, and people really connect with each other, then I think that’s where we should start.”
We need a new approach to the interior of a building,” he added.
“They want to have their privacy and their privacy is important to them.””
People want to live in spaces where they are not afraid of things,” said the architect.
“They want to have their privacy and their privacy is important to them.”
